Organizing my Teacher Binder


My teacher binder is something that I use almost daily and having it organized into multiple sections has helped me stay organized. Since it's been invaluable to me, I thought I'd share it with you!

The first thing in my binder is a pencil pouch where I keep things to write with. These are helpful if I take my teacher binder to a meeting.
After the pencil pouch, I have multiple tab dividers that hold lots of important materials. The first thing you see is a detailed calendar that my school gives us. After that, I have TONS of tabs!
The categories I have are:
  • Calendar
  • Pacing Guide
  • Reading standards (these are in multiple tabs: Reading: Literature, Reading: Informational, etc.
  • CAFE/Daily 5
  • Emergency Procedures
  • Bus Information
  • IEP
  • Parent Contact Info
  • PTO
  • Parent/Student Compact
  • Beginning of Year (This is where I keep Open House sign in sheets and other initial paperwork)
  • Faculty Meeting Notes
  • Team Meeting Notes
  • Professional Development 
  • Parent Info sheets
At the back of the binder, I have tabs that are numbered 1-10. This is where I'll keep copies of my lesson plans. 1 = August, 2 = September, etc. If I find tabs with the months, I may switch them out, but I think the numbered tabs will be fine.
 
Behind that I have a clear sheet protector where I hold miscellaneous papers. For example, we have a Fall Fitness night and about 3 students have turned in papers for that. I don't need them just yet, but don't want to lose them, so that's a good place to keep them.
 
Behind the page protector, I have a 3 ring folder that has Velcro on it. It's similar to an expandable file folder. It's great to store things in as well.
 
I always have extra tabs on hand because I find that I add tabs throughout the year! What tabs are in your teacher binder?
