This week we are doing LOTS of fun Valentine's Day activities so I thought it would good to break them into several posts! Since I am staying at home now, I'm delving into Valentine's Day like never before and I am loving all of our activities!
Of course, we have to send Valentine's Day cards to our family. Since they live several hours away, we will mail them. E loved picking each special person in our family a Valentine.
We opened up a pack of candy hearts, sorted them by color, counted them, discovered which color we had the most of (blue), and then ate a few!
We talked about how the letter V is for Valentine's Day - and vulture, E says! :) We did a Do-a-Dot activity and then practiced writing the letter V.
I created a Valentine's Day Math Packet (available here on Teachers Pay Teachers). We'll do activities from it throughout the week. Today we did this heart pattern activity.
We sorted hearts by their size, largest to smallest and vice versa.
We practiced tracing a heart.
We made a puppet using this puppet craft - good thing it was only a dollar. :) It didn't work out as well as I thought!
We lined these hearts up in order of smallest to largest and sang the song "Jesus Loves Me". Fits in SO well with Valentine's Day!
We also sang the song, "His L-O-V-E"!
Resources from this post came from a variety of places: Confessions of a Homeschooler, my Teachers Pay Teachers page, DLTK Kids, and Target.
Stay tuned for more fun Valentine's Day activities!
